Tin soldier online14 september 2006Months of work I finished the full 3d animation project the Tinsoldiers March.  In 6 month I finished the project 'the tinsoldier's March'. The almost 8 minute movie is a full 3d animated short based upon the famous story ‘the steadfast tinsoldier’ from Hans Christian Anderson.Among with the animation, I wrote the thesis ‘melodrama in 3d animation’ explaining why it is difficult to mix 3d computer animation with a romantic genre like melodrama. During this research, many aspects were found that could easily used within my animation. However, there were also a lot of aspect that were much more difficult to use. Thing of, how to let the characters cry, or how to show pure emotion that triggers the audience to cry as well? I found myself struggling mostly with the story, because it seemed that a melodramatic story needs a certain space and therefore time to build the relations and gives the audience sympathy with the characters. 
The movie itself is done with 5 other students, 2 for music and sound effects and three students from the first year has been worked on toys.The animation can be seen at www.tinsoldier.millionviews.com.
